TEXTILE FOCUS: NIGEL ATKINSON
Nigel Atkinson works from his studios in north west London and the rural community of the south of France. His work spans the mediums of drawing, painting, photography, textile and fibre, creating delicate works of art.
Wild Silks from Assam, Linen and Ramie, Baby Alpaca from Mexico and Also from Nepal, hand woven in shears for window treatments and upholstery weights.
From his background at Portsmouth and Winchester Schools of Art, he specialises in textiles and has 30 years experience in hand processes of screen printing, weaving, embroidery, dyeing and working with craftsmen from England, Italy, France, India, Nepal, Japan and more recently Mexico. Now based at Kingsgate Workshops he brings together his varied experience and plethora of textile skills and knowledge to creates custom hand made fabrics available to commission; hand printed and embossed fabrics, hand woven and embroidered.
