12 Days of Christmas 2024, Win a Sarah Battle Art Print The Shop Floor Project
The Shop Floor Project was founded in 2006 by Denise Allan and Samantha Allan, a mother-and-daughter team dedicated to designing, developing, and sourcing collections that celebrate exceptional craftsmanship. Whether designing in-house, commissioning, or collaborating with artists and makers, their collections are always rooted in storytelling.
The duo is drawn to objects that resonate with history, weaving narratives from the past into their work. From a series inspired by a 16th-century household accounts book to a collection of tiles referencing the Devonshire Hunting Tapestries, every new collection at The Shop Floor Project is infused with a sense of heritage and meaning.
Prize:
For Selvedge, they have selected a limited-edition print (see top image) from their collaboration with British artist Sarah Battle and her Paper Cut Quilt Series, worth £125.
Sarah Battle, based in an 18th-century weaver’s cottage in the West Yorkshire hills, has been a collage artist since her days at the Royal College of Art in the late 1980s. For this series, she combines her meticulous paper-cutting and collage techniques with the traditions of quilting, creating vibrant, imaginative works. Each ‘Paper Cut Quilt’ is themed, with titles like The Quilt of Cleaning and Matchbox Quilt, bursting with intricate, magical imagery.
