A mix and a perfect match
Until now, if you wanted to surround yourself in the style of internationally acclaimed interior designer Kit Kemp you'd have to book into one of her eight boutique hotels in London (or check into Firmdale's Crosby Street Hotel in New York) and absorb as much inspiration as possible. Even so, Kit's habit of abandoning traditional design rules and creating lovely one-of-a-kind interiors was always tricky to emulate. So it is with excitement that we heard of "Folkthread" Kit's collaboration with Anthropologie on her first furniture and décor collection.
If any brand were perfectly positioned to translate Kit's eclectic vision to the shop floor it was them – both are adept at drawing from diverse sources of inspiration, mixing – even clashing – prints and motifs. Perversely it adds up to a perfect match. “Anthropologie and I love folk art and handmade crafts – this includes embroidery, collage and beautiful materials that last and feel good. I have taken a few of my favorite designs and have adapted them especially for Anthropologie. Interiors should be fun so let’s enjoy the colour” explains Kemp.
The 14 piece collection includes upholstered armchairs with inspired hand appliqué animal motifs, patterned wallpaper and bold geometric rugs with prices ranging from £148 to £898.
