Aneeth Arora’s Péro Infuses Hello Kitty’s Kawaii Charm at Lakme Fashion Week 2024
The whimsical worlds of Péro and Hello Kitty came together at Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI 2024, where designer Aneeth Arora unveiled an expansive Spring/Summer '25 collection for Péro in collaboration with Hello Kitty. Titled Hello Péro, the collection embodies childlike innocence and celebrates iconic imagery through exquisitely handcrafted clothes and accessories. As we explore the charm and allure of 'cuteness' in our current Selvedge issue 121: Adorable, Péro reinterprets Hello Kitty’s beloved symbols—bows, apples, cherries, doughnuts, and cupcakes—infused with the playful energy of Japanese Harajuku street style.

This collaboration is particularly special as it marks two significant milestones: Péro's 15th anniversary and Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary. By blending elements from both worlds, the collection creates an engaging and nostalgic experience for the audience.
The name "Péro" means "to wear" in Marwari, the language of Rajasthan. Péro blends an international aesthetic with local materials and craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings to create products that resonate globally.

Péro’s identity lies in its commitment to traditional Indian textile processes, where each material passes through the hands of various artisans, upholding the Indian tradition of handcrafting. This dedication results in one-of-a-kind garments that reflect the culture from which they originate, yet communicate universally. The designs evoke a sense of ease and style, whether worn on the streets of Paris, London, or India. The look transcends age or season, instead embodying a mindset that embraces the effortless style of local craftsmanship.
