Cosy Up To Easter

Felt is considered the oldest known textile, predating both weaving and knitting. This non-woven cloth it is produced by matting, condensing and pressing fibres together. Designed and felted by Berlin based label Hut Up, these beautiful handmade felted bell jar and bunny egg cosies are just the staple for keeping your boiled eggs warm or your dresser decorated.
Christine Birkle, founder of the label is a felt extraordinaire, renowned for her creations, all of which are completely hand-crafted using traditional felting and blocking methods. The technique she uses in her work is known as nuno felting, derived from the Japanese word 'nuno' meaning cloth. This technique incorporates a base fabric which is bonded with loose fibre, usually wool creating a light weight felt.
Hut Up creates a range of original felt products, and these delights are no exception; made using traditional techniques and felted using the finest wool and soap to create their soft texture. Reflecting the natural colour variants in sheep fleece, the wool used for these egg cosies is un-dyed. The careful felting by hand softens the material before it's moulded into organic, seamless forms.
Also based in Berlin, Parkhaus offer slick, stylish and simple felted chickens. Since 2003 they have been creating an ever-increasing array of wool felt accessories. Made using high-quality pure lambs wool felt, Parkhaus takes felt traditions in a decidedly more modern direction, ensuring each piece is cut with precision and carefully stitched. We’re especially delighted to offer these egg cosies in our Easter sale this month.
