Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology
"The exhibition will explore how designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear."
Man Versus Machine – it's a distinction and debate that will no doubt carry on long after any of us. From the invention of the sewing machine to the dawning of artificial intelligence, Manus (the hand and Machina (the machine) explores this ongoing dichotomy, in which hand and machine are presented as discordant tools in the creative process, and questions the relationship and distinction between haute couture and ready-to-wear.
Expect Chanel, theory and conceptual fashion.
