Selvedge Winter Fair: Maria Yiannikkou, Handcrafted Block Prints Inspired by Heritage and Nature

Maria Yiannikkou is a self taught hand block printer, who works from the shed at the bottom of her garden in north London. After 10 years as the Inspiration Editor of The World of Interiors, she gave up her position to have her two children. It was at this point that she took up printing for the first time, and it sparked a passion for the craft, which has taken her on an unexpected journey into exploring her creativity and discovering her own style. Her inspiration comes from her English and Greek Cypriot background, and a natural desire and instinct to create repeat patterns.

As a big fan of applied art, her designs are printed onto a variety of products to make your home more beautiful - fabric for upholstery and curtains, cushions, aprons, napkins, tote bags, and even mugs and tiles. She works on natural linen, using non toxic paint and makes her own blocks from her drawings. At this year's Selvedge Winter Fair 2024, Maria will be offering her beautiful hand block printed wares, including some Christmas themed items, wreaths, block printed cards, bows and fragrant lavender bags.
