Spend the night with McQueen
'Savage Beauty' at the V&A has already been explored by 345,000 visitors. Tickets for the event have been sold out since we can remember. Due to the shows extraordinary success the V&A has released an extra 12,000 tickets - for viewings all through the night. The fact that the V&A has never gone to such lengths for an exhibition before is testament to the quality and success of the show.
The around the clock viewings will take place over the show's last two weekends. There will be music and a bar will be open for refreshments throughout the night. The designer once said, "I'm going to take you on journeys you've never dreamed were possible," given the success of the show in both New York and London, it's unlikely that anyone visiting during the night will be sleeping let alone dreaming.
Throughout his career McQueen referenced not only British heritage but myriad histories, myths and historical techniques. The exhibition explores his 'no limitations' attitude to fashion and makes one truly appreciate his forever fresh attitude towards tailoring, form and narrative. Taking visitors through the narrative of his life, from his work at Central Saint Martins through his most controversial ideas and final creations.
This must see exhibition will surely be worth missing a few hours of beauty sleep for.
