Subtle Connections: Water and the Space in Between
Water is essential to life. Both a symbol of renewal and survival, migration and transformation, it shapes our physical world and permeates our stories and emotions. Ruup & Form’s upcoming exhibition, Subtle Connections: Water and the Space in Between, explores these profound relationships through the work of five exceptional artists, each offering a unique perspective on water as inspiration and medium:
Katerina Knight (UK):
Katerina is a textile artist and writer whose intricate handcrafted pieces draw on her deep connection to nature. After leaving a fast-paced career in luxury fashion, she now embraces a slower, mindful approach, creating works that reflect a passion for sustainability, and explore themes of healing and ecological harmony.
Natascha Maksimovic (Germany/UK):
Based in Margate, Natascha revitalises the Japanese art of Suminagashi marbling, blending traditional techniques with contemporary design. Her bespoke, hand-marbled creations ripple with life and have captivated clients from private collectors to global brands.
Yolanda López (Mexico):
Yolanda’s multidisciplinary work blends cartography and storytelling to explore personal and collective memory. Her art reflects how we inhabit the world, with her pieces showcased in exhibitions across Europe and the Americas, including recent shows in Germany, Croatia, Greece, and Spain.
Rebecca Scott (UK):
Based in London and Cumbria, Rebecca’s striking “Scribble Paintings” combine spontaneous gestures with idealised imagery. Her work challenges societal expectations, exploring themes of female identity, desire, and narrative disruption.
Ana Bridgewater (Spain/UK):
Ana’s sculptures, hand crafted from porcelain and reclaimed wood, balance fluidity and weightlessness, creating an interplay between earth and sky. Her pieces honour nature and reflect a deep commitment to sustainability.

Among this talented group, Katerina Knight’s textile work resonates deeply with the team here at Selvedge. As our Assistant to the Editor, she brings a thoughtful dedication to textiles and storytelling in every aspect of her work. Her artistry is rooted in the natural world, where she finds creativity in foraging wild plants and cultivating a community garden near her home in Worcestershire. Reflecting on her practice, she says:
“As a maker, I love how textiles allow me to create beautiful things that bring a sense of magic to a world that often feels quite turbulent.”
Katerina’s journey is an inspiring one, from graduating with First-Class Honours in Textile Design from the Glasgow School of Art to earning a prestigious Burberry Design Scholarship at the Royal College of Art. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she has received numerous awards for her contributions to the textile arts. Whether creating, teaching, or writing, Katerina celebrates creativity, sustainability, and the beauty of nature.
In addition, the exhibition is co-curated by Ruup & Form’s founder, Varuna Kollanethu, and art historian Stephanie Souroujon. Together, they bring a thoughtful approach to showcasing craft and decorative arts, adding depth to the exhibition’s themes. Ruup & Form, a contemporary gallery dedicated to fostering creativity, has established itself as a platform for fresh voices and dynamic ideas.
This exhibition isn’t just about art, it’s about connection. Subtle Connections: Water and the Space in Between invites you to reflect on the power of water and the beauty it inspires. Don’t miss this opportunity to support these talented artists and experience the magic of their work firsthand.
