The Voyage Continues
Kristjana S Williams, Falin Viltur Blar (Blue World).
The work of Iceland born artist Kristjana S Williams will be on display at Paul Smith No.9 Albemarle Street in London this month. Following her successful exhibition in the Paul Smith store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles and The Explorers’ Voyage exhibition at No 9 Albemarle Street store in London last year, Kristjana’s work is now returning to Paul Smith’s global flagship store in Mayfair. Kristjana is part of a new group exhibition featuring a range of new and one-off works from regular artists and collaborators.
As an independent continuation of The Explorers’ Voyage, Kristjana dives further into her love of maps, botanical curiosities and adventure that is shared by Paul Smith, as well as touching on a topic that is at the forefront of her mind these days, global warming.

Kristjana’s works include two bird taxidermy sculptures, Pepsi & Sprite. The birds were road kills restored by a local taxidermist, pampered with Kristjana’s whimsical paper cut elements. She has borrowed the birds names from plastic bottled fizzy drinks, to highlight the impact of plastics and nature and encourage us to ask what we can change about our consumption to preserve our world.
Talking about the exhibition, Kristjana said: ‘What’s been so exciting is that [it] has allowed me to really play around with 3D imagery and curiosities that speak to me.’
‘Imagine sailing the sea at night - when you come to the sea and the phosphorescent lights up and gives the magical glow of neon, in these moments it feels like the earth is connected to space and the magic of this planet seems boundless’.
