India, 7 Weaves, Bali Mahi
‘Enajori’ collection’, celebrates reciprocity an invisible thread of unconditional love and care between the indigenous communities, their age-old traditional sustainable practices and the mother earth.
The entire collection is produced by the forest families of the Assamese Rabha community with 100% Eri Silk reared in small quantities, hand spun from degummed cocoons using the ancient technique of plant-based alkali. The yarn is then naturally dyed from the materials sourced from the forest using the traditional techniques. Each of our beautiful stoles will be packed in a hand spun, naturally dyed, hand-woven Eri Silk bag.
Named after the native bird from Loharghat, Bali Mahi is a classic stole woven with blocks of black and grey on varying density of undyed natural eri silk yarn with its criss-cross lines breaking the monotony. Each of these stoles is lovingly hand spun and intricately woven over 23 days, bringing to you a truly timeless heirloom piece.
