Botanical Weaves
Botanical Weaves creates high-end handwoven textiles. The studio was founded by award-winning handweaver, Kathryn Tomasetti. Based between the lush countryside of Lichfield, Staffordshire, and the urban buzz of Cockpit Studios in London, the company specialises in sustainable handwoven pieces, including baby carriers, one-of-a-kind scarves, yoga and lap blankets.
All fibres are either sourced locally or reclaimed (meaning yarn and textiles that are secondhand, end-of-project or may otherwise be thrown away). Vibrant colours, each one carefully homegrown, come courtesy of organic traditional dye plants and flowers, or responsibly foraged finds. These hues range from vivid reds and golden yellows to midnight blues. Homegrown and foraged dye plants include (among others) Japanese indigo, madder, woad, dyers camomile, black walnuts, weld, cosmos sulphureus, coreopsis tinctoria and eucalyptus.
As all Botanical Weaves textiles have been hand-dyed and handcrafted, each one is a unique piece. Every textile is created with love and a deep gratitude to nature, and is accompanied by a detailed description of the provenance and attributes of the flora used to dye it.
