Handblock printed using the dabu (mud-resist). This lightweight canvas jacket is perfect for fall and light winters. Design depicted is of traditional henna painted hands.

This fabric design used on this jacket was created at a codesign workshop with women artisans in Bagru. It is hand block printing using traditional processes.

Hand block printing in Bagru can be traced back nearly 400 years. The Chhipa community of printers have mastered this craft over many generations and Mahila Print is carrying on this tradition and protecting the designs through our unique business model or royalties and contracts for artisans.

5% of the sale of this fabric is paid directly to the artisan designer who created it during a codesign workshop with Studio Bagru and Imprinted Story. Each artisan has a contract designed by the Cultural Intellectual Property Rights Initiative in order to protect all parties involved in its making.

Due to the hand made nature of block printing there may be slight imperfection and color shading. These aspects should be celebrated as unique indications of this centuries old craft.
