India, Maku Textiles, Farid dress
This ensemble consists of two garments: A round neck, cuffed full sleeves, midi length, jamdani brocade dress with front tucks, back silk yoke and buttoned placket opening at the centre back. It is paired with a high-waist, drop crotch, pea-shaped pants made in double layer fine muslin with front and back pleats, buttoned placket opening, and embroidery at the waist band and hem line.
This dress is made special by the use of a fine silk-cotton blend fabric with fine brocade design all over. It is made in Maku's signature natural indigo on white palette.
Maku’s designs are contextual to community, practices and individual skill sets. The fabric is handwoven in the villages of Bengal (India) by traditional brocade weavers. It is a contemporary adaptation of the age-old craft of jamdani weaving.
This product is handwoven and hand-dyed. Any irregularities only add to the beauty of the textile.
Natural dyed garments may vary in appearance over time.
