Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 June 2025, Hand-stitched Clothing with Gabriela Martínez Ortiz
Saturday 14 & Sunday 15 June 2025, 14:00 - 17:00 BST (British Summer Time)
Online workshop, hosted on Zoom by Gabriela Martínez Ortiz
The workshop will be recorded and a recording will be shared with participants within 7 days of the workshop.
As a designer and textile artist, Gabriela Martínez Ortiz is the creative force behind Ofelia & Antelmo, a project dedicated to exploring the art of hand embroidery and its dynamic role as a graphic focal point across various mediums. Rooted in my deep admiration for nature, my visual expression is born from a meticulous study of organic forms, manifested through intricate patterns and repetition.
In her practice, she draws on the therapeutic aspects of hand embroidery and its role in memory preservation. I also experiment with embroidery on diverse surfaces, including paper, palm leaves, ceramics, and dried natural materials.
Gabriela's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across Mexico, Brazil, France, Hong Kong, the United States, Chile, and South Africa. Since 2019, she started teaching embroidery workshops online and in-person, reaching audiences in Mexico, the United States, the UK, Spain, France, Colombia, and Chile.
Outline of the workshop
