Porfirio Gutierrez studio revolves around the efforts of family and community, expressing an understanding and a vision that is deeply rooted to his Zapotec culture. Each artwork is an expression of the convergence of the two worlds in which Porfirio’s soul dwells. The ancient world where he finds comfort and strength in materials that are traditional, simple, and honest. The modern America evokes a new interpretation of the ancient symbols that are at the base level of his psyche.
