Screen Printing for Beginners for London Textile Month.
This is a one-day course, providing guidance on screen exposure and printing on fabric.
· Two silk-screens to use for the day.
· Create compositions with mark making and simple shapes
· Draw your own illustrations including colour registration.
· Develop a colour palette with a range of pigments and binders.
· Experimenting on calico, working towards printing a final piece.
(Beker Studio hand-dyed tote bags, a linen tea towel, cushion cover or t-shirt)
· Healthy lunch provided
Saturday 27th September 2025 10:00am - 6:00pm
10:00 - 13:00 - Morning Session
Prepare the screen, including coating it with photosensitive emulsion and exposing it to create your stencil. Create compositions with simple shapes or draw your own illustrations including colour registration.
An opportunity to sit down for a lunch and get to know everyone!
14:00 – 18:00 - Afternoon Session
You'll learn colour alignment (registration), explore screen masking and develop your
own colour palette with a range of pigments and binders. The rest of the day is dedicated to hands-on experimentation.
This course covers many of the practical elements applicable to most printing projects. With the opportunity to work in a fully equipped studio built for research, design development, and small-scale manufacturing.
Maximum participants: limited to 8 (16+ years)
