Description (story of the item): This huipil is made from brown native ‘coyuchi’ cotton which is grown by the Mixtec people, spun on a drop spindle and then woven on backstrap loom. It features a hand embroidered collar made with the very rare ‘tixinda’ dyed thread. This particular collar features the Virgin of Guadalupe--the Patron Saint of Mexico but, can be made without her as well. Over 500 hours of womens’ work went into the spinning and weaving of this huipil.
Materials: 100% hand spun ‘coyuchi’ and white cotton
