Shiram Art
Shiram Art's mission is twofold: to preserve the cultural identity and ancestral knowledge of rainforest communities and to support the conservation of the rainforest through sustainable artisanal production.
This trade provides a sustainable income for artisans and their families, enabling them to pass down their skills and keep their traditions alive. Shiram Art collaborates with individual artisans and artisan associations, ensuring that each product is traceable to its origin, while reinvesting profits to help artisans further develop their craft.
The organisation also supports the establishment of artisanal workshops, allowing artisans to share their skills with the wider community. Additionally, Shiram Art promotes nature conservation and reforestation projects led by the artisans and their communities, launching specific campaigns based on the communities' needs.
Facing threats from extractive industries and deforestation, these communities use their artisanal work to achieve economic empowerment and sustainable use of rainforest resources. Through sustainable harvesting techniques, the artisans celebrate and protect nature.
Their art carries stories that teach younger generations about their culture, which is deeply intertwined with nature. The designs are inspired by local flora, fauna, and daily life. These techniques, dating back to pre-Hispanic times, reflect a deep knowledge of nature conservation, offering valuable eco-friendly alternatives for today’s world.
