The Ethical Silk Company
Behind The Ethical Silk Company lies a story of passion, craftsmanship, and commitment to ethical production. The brand is a celebration of artisanal skill, sustainable natural fabrics, and a desire to merge these elements into beautiful, modern, and timeless collections of cruelty-free mulberry silk sleepwear, loungewear, and clothing for both men and women. Their offerings also include award-winning silk pillowcases, designed to protect skin and hair.
The journey began in Ireland, when Dubliner Eva, inspired by her mother’s beauty regimen of using a silk scarf on her pillowcase, founded The Ethical Silk Company. Motivated to bring the benefits of sleeping on silk to a wider audience, Eva launched the brand, blending sustainability with luxury.
A decade later, The Ethical Silk Company has grown into a beloved brand, now proudly led by five women who acquired the business from Eva. Banke (CEO), Fritha (Director of Europe), Margaret (Director of the UK), Sade (Director of North America), and Shola (Director of Ireland) continue to steer the company with creativity and dedication, firmly rooted in the values of ethical, slow fashion.
The leadership team brings a diverse set of experiences, from Shola and Fritha, both mothers balancing family life with work, to Margaret, an empty nester, and Banke and Sade, both proud grandmothers. Their collective expertise spans financial management, senior leadership, marketing, retail, fundraising, and fashion PR. With operations now spanning the UK, and the US, and still deeply connected to Dublin, The Ethical Silk Company continues to grow while remaining true to its Irish roots.
