Treasures from the Silk Road
Anne Hildyard founded "Treasures from the Silk Road" over a decade ago after a transformative journey through Central Asia. Inspired by the colourful ikat silk robes and intricate embroideries of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, she was captivated by the contrast between the muted desert landscape and the vibrant attire of the local women. On her return to Europe, Anne connected with textile dealers in Istanbul, where she now sources much of her stock.
Anne makes several trips each year to Turkey to replenish her collection and meet client demands. In addition to Central Asian textiles, she offers a range of Turkish-made items. Her collection is showcased in her showroom at Plumber Cottage, open by appointment year-round, with special 'Open Showroom' events for full displays. For those unable to visit, she also participates in events across the UK.
