Sometimes, to discover specific craftsmanship, one must venture far. Bess Nielsen first traveled to India in 1976, and fascinated by the artisanal techniques there, she became a pioneer of Khadi in France.
Known as the Khadi expert, she founded Khadi and Co. in Paris in 2004, honouring the nobility of human craftsmanship and fostering collaboration between India and Paris. Over the years, Bess Nielsen has traveled across India in search of the deeper meaning behind this ancient craft.
Simplicity is her signature: at Khadi and Co., one admires shawls from Punjab or Bengal, depending on the raw materials (silk, linen, cotton, wools, or occasionally cashmere and pashmina), along with other fabrics transformed into kurtas and home linens, reinterpreted in a timeless manner.
By returning to the essentials, Bess Nielsen has made Khadi and Co. a refined brand, where the combination of colours - Dark Indigo, Cardinal Red, and off-white - explores the infinite beauty of Khadi weaving. Through various dyeing techniques such as Tie and Dye, Block Printing, or different organic spinning methods, the designer creates
light, breathable garments that are remarkably soft to the touch.
The Prize:

The set is worth €850 and includes a khadi cotton child’s rabari jacket, featuring an all over elephant embroidery design.
